Lovely couple and lovely venue (even bit dark – but that what I often say 😉 )

As a wedding photographer from Kilkenny, I have to say – I love the city as a wedding pictures background.

You have here everything, old buildings, castle, river, woods, beauty trees and city scape too.

You can have modern colorful photos at the many doors or classic old town. If you like spend few minutes only for your wedding photos (like we did). You can go beside the river and there you have lovely options of green or modern background of graffiti, bridge, path and much more!

Gemma and Paul decide to go with modern look and I am so happy they did that. Pictures are having fresh look and also lovely personal touch of them.

You can see the personality they having – as a couple and as a individual person, they showing best of the best of two of them. Even Paul is acting as a great frame for Gemma.

Ceremony was very romantic. Perfect personal touch with readings and music which make a lot of people having tears in their eyes. Langtons Hotel – as a very popular spot in Kilkenny is always nice option for wedding day – even I have to use more lights ;). Central location make my work easy. We can walk to each lovely spot and have a lot opportunities. I hope you did see in pictures below, we used.

Day was too short. But I had a chance take few photos from party time. When music is on and everyone is having fun!

It is often being omitted that a good wedding photographer will always want only the best for you. Just like a good friend, your photographer will always be there by your side. The only difference is that he will not try to interfere (well, except for posed pictures of course!) in any of your personal matters.

 

Keep in mind that what goes around comes around and in order to be treated in a friendly manner by your photographer, you need to behave in the same way! It’s your memories encapsulated in wedding photos at stake here, so

 

Your wedding photographer is not your enemy! His top priority is for you to enjoy the day! It would be highly unprofessional of him to cut into your wedding with some demands or to suggest another boring posed picture. At Dolinny Photography we especially tend to avoid interfering during the reception. Instead we love to capture the real and raw emotions, the things that make you, YOU! For this however, we need your trust.

 

We need you to let us do the work, and believe us – we know what to do to achieve that desired effect of genuinity and authenticity, the so called WOW factor. We need to relax, take a deep breath and simply enjoy yourself so that we can capture it. And take our word for it – coming back to your wedding album ten or twenty years after that special day will be so much better if the pictures show the true picture of you!

 

If you go an extra mile to develop a closer relation with your wedding photographer, it will be paid off with a much more personal set of pictures. Also, if you allow the photographer to capture the true you, he will do the same to you by putting his or her soul into your photographs. Well – either way it’s a win-win and we think that the best way to sum this post up in a single sentence would be to say that you get what you give!

Why you should put your phone down at a wedding ceremony

 

Recently there’s been a lot of talk about how mobile phones or more often, smartphones can easily take away from that feeling of authenticity of a certain event. Go on YouTube and find any video shot during a concert. Go to the comment section and you’ll find countless people complaining about how they see an ocean of phones. It goes without saying that mobile phones became an inherent part of our lives, but perhaps it is a good idea to put them down every once in a while. Especially on special occasions, like concerts or… weddings!

 

It’s completely understandable to have a phone with you at all times during your wedding. Despite all the joy and love around you, there might be some sudden emergency, an issue with your catering provider or a call from your relative who couldn’t come but still wants to wish you all the best in the world. You and your guests might also want to do the most obvious thing – selfies! They’re obviously a great token of memory and there’s nothing wrong with taking a couple of them.

So, why you should put your phone down at a wedding ceremony?

 

However, if you’re reading this, you need to keep in mind that most likely there will be a wedding photographer with you during the entire day. You don’t want to look through your wedding pictures in ten or twenty years and see people with their noses in their phones!

 

Actually, if you think about it, all these people commenting on YouTube videos might have a point. On special days it is important to be in the moment. We’re not saying that you should ban phones entirely from your wedding reception. All we want for you is to get photos with the WOW factor. And for us to do this, you and your guests need to be present and in the moment! Those notifications can be checked later! You can also upload these pictures tomorrow. Go and enjoy what’s probably one of the most special day in your entire life!

When it comes to art, it might seem that everything has already been done. But then, there is this one person who comes forward and changes everything!

Wedding photography has its tropes and cliches, there’s no denying that! You’ve got all your dips and kisses or jump shotsjumpshots – there is nothing wrong with wanting these kinds of pictures to be in your wedding album! But you may want to take it to the next level and get really creative with your pictures! Wedding photography is also art – an art of preserving memories from the most special days!

Here’s some advice on how to turn your wedding photo session into something special and unique!

 

Think of what defines you

 

Take a look deep down inside you. What are your biggest passions? How do you perceive yourself? How would you like to remember yourself in 20-30-40 years when you dig out your wedding album for a trip down the nostalgia lane?

Organizing your wedding photoshoot around the things you love will allow your wedding photographer to really bring out the real you in the pictures.

 

Think of all the things you want to do!

Ever thought of having a photo of you taken during scuba diving? Or bungee jumping? Doing that in your wedding dress or a lovely three-piece will make it that much more special and memorable!

Try to think of all the crazy things you both always wanted to do, but were always like: “we can do that later” or “we need a special occasion to do this”. Well, wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so grab it! Reach out to your favorite band and have your first dance to a song you both love played live. Climb on top of a mountain at dawn and cuddle up under a blanket. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you bring your wedding photographer with you!
