Wedding Photographer Ballymagarvey Village Navan – as was great opportunity to meet South African couple, with Irish/UK roots, on the wedding in Ireland, the mix of people and cultures!
Treat your wedding photographer the way you want to be treated!
It is often being omitted that a good wedding photographer will always want only the best for you. Just like a good friend, your photographer will always be there by your side. The only difference is that he will not try to interfere (well, except for posed pictures of course!) in any of your personal matters.
Keep in mind that what goes around comes around and in order to be treated in a friendly manner by your photographer, you need to behave in the same way! It’s your memories encapsulated in wedding photos at stake here, so
Your wedding photographer is not your enemy! His top priority is for you to enjoy the day! It would be highly unprofessional of him to cut into your wedding with some demands or to suggest another boring posed picture. At Dolinny Photography we especially tend to avoid interfering during the reception. Instead we love to capture the real and raw emotions, the things that make you, YOU! For this however, we need your trust.
We need you to let us do the work, and believe us – we know what to do to achieve that desired effect of genuinity and authenticity, the so called WOW factor. We need to relax, take a deep breath and simply enjoy yourself so that we can capture it. And take our word for it – coming back to your wedding album ten or twenty years after that special day will be so much better if the pictures show the true picture of you!
If you go an extra mile to develop a closer relation with your wedding photographer, it will be paid off with a much more personal set of pictures. Also, if you allow the photographer to capture the true you, he will do the same to you by putting his or her soul into your photographs. Well – either way it’s a win-win and we think that the best way to sum this post up in a single sentence would be to say that you get what you give!
Dolinny Photography are based in Kilkenny, Ireland. We are available to provide wedding photography services throughout Ireland as well in foreign locations such as Italy, Spain, Dubai etc.

Why you should put your phone down at a wedding ceremony
Recently there’s been a lot of talk about how mobile phones or more often, smartphones can easily take away from that feeling of authenticity of a certain event. Go on YouTube and find any video shot during a concert. Go to the comment section and you’ll find countless people complaining about how they see an ocean of phones. It goes without saying that mobile phones became an inherent part of our lives, but perhaps it is a good idea to put them down every once in a while. Especially on special occasions, like concerts or… weddings!
It’s completely understandable to have a phone with you at all times during your wedding. Despite all the joy and love around you, there might be some sudden emergency, an issue with your catering provider or a call from your relative who couldn’t come but still wants to wish you all the best in the world. You and your guests might also want to do the most obvious thing – selfies! They’re obviously a great token of memory and there’s nothing wrong with taking a couple of them.
So, why you should put your phone down at a wedding ceremony?
However, if you’re reading this, you need to keep in mind that most likely there will be a wedding photographer with you during the entire day. You don’t want to look through your wedding pictures in ten or twenty years and see people with their noses in their phones!
Actually, if you think about it, all these people commenting on YouTube videos might have a point. On special days it is important to be in the moment. We’re not saying that you should ban phones entirely from your wedding reception. All we want for you is to get photos with the WOW factor. And for us to do this, you and your guests need to be present and in the moment! Those notifications can be checked later! You can also upload these pictures tomorrow. Go and enjoy what’s probably one of the most special day in your entire life!

A schoolyard romance for Ciara & Rob
Childhood sweethearts Ciara and Rob, from Dublin, met while in their fourth year of secondary school. Ciara was won over on their first date — a school trip to Dublin Zoo — and from then the couple were inseparable. The love birds had lived together in Thailand for two years before Rob whisked Ciara away to a hotel in Khanom, where he had prepared a picnic on the roof. “He told me it was to celebrate that it was two years to the day when we left Ireland to go travel. I went to the edge to have a look at the amazing view and when I turned around he was on one knee!” says Ciara.
The pair returned to Ireland for their wedding, holding a traditional ceremony in Toor Church, Co Tipperary, where Ciara’s parents were married 35 years previously, and where her grandparents live locally.
After their intimate ceremony, Ciara and Rob held a drinks reception in her grandparents’ pub before they celebrated for the night at the Castle Oaks House Hotel on the banks of the River Shannon.
Ciara found her elegant lace dress online on Australian website graceloveslace.com and her bridesmaids wore blush-toned midi dresses from Monsoon, while the groomsmen were suited by Love Suits, Dublin.
Ciara and Rob will shortly be heading off to enjoy their dream honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Wedding Photographer Kilkenny – Langtons Hotel wedding of Gemma&Paul by Chris Dolinny. From Dolinny Photography – wedding and portrait photographers from Kilkenny. I can say, that was great day!
Thats what I got from Bride and Groom:
I am just writing to let you know that we received the wonderful surprise in the post yesterday! Thank you so so much for the lovely album, it was completely unexpected and very much appreciated.
We are beyond happy with all the photos that you took, we never imagined our wedding photos would be so beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed every second of the day with you.
Thanks so much again,
Paul and Gemma
Lovely couple and lovely venue (even bit dark – but that what I often say 😉 )
As a wedding photographer from Kilkenny, I have to say – I love the city as a wedding pictures background.
You have here everything, old buildings, castle, river, woods, beauty trees and city scape too.
You can have modern colorful photos at the many doors or classic old town. If you like spend few minutes only for your wedding photos (like we did). You can go beside the river and there you have lovely options of green or modern background of graffiti, bridge, path and much more!
Gemma and Paul decide to go with modern look and I am so happy they did that. Pictures are having fresh look and also lovely personal touch of them.
You can see the personality they having – as a couple and as a individual person, they showing best of the best of two of them. Even Paul is acting as a great frame for Gemma.
Ceremony was very romantic. Perfect personal touch with readings and music which make a lot of people having tears in their eyes. Langtons Hotel – as a very popular spot in Kilkenny is always nice option for wedding day – even I have to use more lights ;). Central location make my work easy. We can walk to each lovely spot and have a lot opportunities. I hope you did see in pictures below, we used.
Day was too short. But I had a chance take few photos from party time. When music is on and everyone is having fun!
Being wedding photographer in Kilkenny. So, I have to say, I am lucky I can work for so nice people as Gemma and Paul. In conclusion, I hope they will have memories and photos for ever. Finally looking back and member great day of live!

- Wedding photos capturing wedding as it is:
- happy day with friends,
- no many posing photos,
- few group photos,
This is my style, as a reporter style wedding photographer. I am focusing on letting “my” bride and groom enjoy the day as much as possible. I love to capturing pictures, showing the day with all details, emotions, beauty and tears if there are happy ones. Also on the end of the day, you will see on your wedding pictures lovely, natural wedding day with few portraits.
I believe that way I work on the day, as unobtrusive photographer is the best way I can be for you.
The way I take the pictures on the wedding day, day as it is. I do not making people posing from the spot to the another spot. will let you have your wedding day exactly the way you are planning, as a great happy, important day, to you, your family, friends. Wedding dresses and suits can be works of art. Carefully and individually crafted, dresses and suits will make you shine during your ceremony and the reception. These are the items of clothing people tend to attach a lot of significance to. There are so many cases of people keeping their outfits for years in wardrobes as the most beautiful memory of that special day.
But what if you turn all these sentiments and memory preservation upside down? After all, there are no rules to this game! When it comes to wedding photography, it’s all about telling a story. A good photographer will leave you a lot of space to tell your own. So, why not turn the things around a little bit?
Why don’t you just get yourself all dressed up nicely and jump into a puddle of mud? Or get up early in the morning, go to the beach and run into the sea wearing your stunning garments?
I am not saying that taking pictures of you jumping into the sea in wedding garments is the only way to ensure great photos! All I want to express is that such photographs can be a wonderful memory of your wilder side. These will go great along your typical wedding pictures. They will also work great with the entire album possibly showing a more authentic you!
“But how am I going to attend my wedding in a torn, wet or dirty dress?” you may ask. Well, I am more than happy to stay a bit longer with you and take amazing pictures of you goofing around in your lovely garments on the next day after the ceremony. One thing though – make sure you both fully agree and are 100% convinced that it’s worth it to damage your beautiful dress or suit! They say that “all is fair in love and war”, but it’s still good to agree on such things!
At Dolinny Photography we are open to any ideas that you might have – even the wildest and craziest ones will be considered!
